Ask us how excited we were to see that the former owners of another Italian restaurant in Federal Hill had opened a new restaurant called "Tre Fratelli" (Three Brothers)! We immediately called and made a reservation for dinner. We were warmly welcomed by Pedro and introduced to his brothers, Elmer and Julio. The restaurant is bright and open. They have seating for about 25, so be sure to make a reservation. It is a BYOB with no corkage fee, which we love. They are open for lunch and dinner. The menu is extensive and includes Appetizers, Chicken Wings, Soups, Salads, Pizzas, Sandwiches, Chicken Entrees, Traditional Pasta and Seafood Entrees, Sides, Kids Menu, Drinks, and Desserts. So you see, they have it all - they offer Italian and American food.
Miguel, our server, was friendly and attentive. He immediately brought us hot rolls and butter along with water and wine glasses. My husband had the Chicken Francese which is chicken breast sauteed in a light lemon butter white wine sauce over linguine. There were 3 nice size pieces of chicken breast in a delectable sauce. I decided to try something very new to me, Chicken Toscana, which was 3 sauteed chicken breast with onions, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, bacon in a white wine cream sauce, and served over linguini. I could not finish mine, so I have lunch for today. We were both thrilled with our dinners. They were cooked fresh and delicious.
Congratulations! We wish you much success with your new restaurant.

Well, this is hands down my new favorite Italian restaurant in all of Baltimore!
The food is just sooo good. You could taste fresh, high-quality ingredients in every dish that came out of the kitchen - and also the care that went into them. The Tre Fratelli [three brothers :] are clearly here out of a passion for good food, and it comes through. Plus, the menu has great variety (and something for everyone - kids/picky eaters included), great location (right in the heart of Federal Hill), and the service is solid.
Here's a breakdown of what we got (can you hear me salivating yet??):
- Eggplant parmesan. Holy cow. Pillowy eggplant inside a flavorful crust spread with bright, homemade marinara over pasta. This is soooo delicious - my favorite!!
- Braised short rib vodka rigatoni: melt-in-your-mouth short rib hits you in nearly every bite in a hearty, savory sauce balanced and topped by a little fresh mozzarella and fresh basil (maybe this is my new favorite??)
- Cream of crab soup: luxurious, flavorful broth with substantial lumps of delectable, fresh crab
- Beet salad: beet slices, candied walnuts, mandarin oranges, sliced apples, and goat cheese over lightly dressed mixed greens - enough to be a meal in itself!
They do the classics soooo well (why hello there, eggplant parm) but I love their inventive dishes, too (I've never seen short rib vodka rigatoni on a menu, but wow, why doesn't everyone make this dish!?). The portions are also GREAT - enough to fill you if you're ravenous and not leave you wanting for more (or perfect for a good dinner+tasty snack tomorrow). They're also very reasonably priced, which is really saying something - thankfully (finally) you're not going to break the bank going out for an night of excellent food in the city.
Federal Hill is SO LUCKY Pedro and his awesome kitchen skills are back in the neighborhood - now joined by his two brothers! Tre Fratelli is going to be seeing a lot more of me for sure!!!
